Polish A1 – Polish Course for Beginners

This is an intensive Polish language course conducted online.

The course is intended for students who have never studied Polish before, as well as for those who would like to refresh their basic knowledge of the language. The course is conducted in Polish, with English used as a supporting language. The target level upon completion is A1. The curriculum consists of 24 teaching hours over 12 sessions (see schedule below).

During the course, you will learn modern, practical Polish from a native speaker, gain a solid foundation in grammar, and practice vocabulary necessary for everyday communication. You will also learn to understand spoken Polish.

The program includes learning to read and write in Polish, as well as correct pronunciation and stress patterns. Throughout the course, the following skills will be developed: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students will learn basic vocabulary related to the following topics: introducing yourself, making acquaintances, describing people and rooms, free time, hobbies, family, travel, shopping and eating out, and the city.

During the course, the following lexical and grammatical topics will be covered:

1. Alfabet / The Alphabet

• Pronunciation and spelling of Polish letters

2. Pierwsze spotkanie / First Meeting

• Basic greetings and farewells

• Numbers from 0 to 10

3. Skąd jesteś? / Where Are You From?

• Asking and answering questions about origin and language

• The verb "być" (to be) in the present tense

4. Moja rodzina / My Family

• Talking about family members

• Numbers from 10 to 100

• Personal and possessive pronouns

5. Mój dzień / My Day

• Daily routines and common activities

• Present tense verb conjugation

• Ordinal numbers from 1 to 24

6. W sklepie / At the Store

• Names of food items and groceries

• Giving prices and weights

• Accusative case for inanimate nouns

7. W restauracji / At the Restaurant

• Types of eateries and meals

• Conjugation of the verb "jeść" (to eat) in the present tense

• Plural forms of nouns

8. Wygląd zewnętrzny / Appearance:

• description of appearance and character traits

• gradation of adjectives

9. W pracy / At Work

• Talking about professions and education

• Instrumental case usage

10. Jakie masz plany? / What Are Your Plans?

• Talking about rest and leisure

• Future tense (imperfective aspect)

• Days of the week

11. Mieszkanie / Housing

• Describing apartment or house interiors

• Renting vocabulary and expressions

12. Zdrowie / Health

• Naming symptoms and illnesses

• Parts of the body, types of doctors, and medications
